MLB Replaces "Spider Man 2" Ads
Following a wave of media and public outcry, MLB commissioner/man-of-the-people
Bud Selig cancelled plans to place advertisements for the
movie "Spider Man 2" on the bases during interleague
games.
"The fans certainly made it clear they disapproved,"
said Selig while scraping freshly-hurled feces from his
glasses.
Selig announced that the familiar web-patterned Spider
Man logo will be replaced by advertisements promoting the
recent DVD release of the feel-good British comedy "Calendar
Girls," featuring Helen Mirren and Julie Walters as
perky, fifty-something housewives who pose nude for a calendar.
| The decision was supported
by Jacqueline Parkes, MLB senior vice president of advertising
and marketing. "We're trying to stay in touch with
the fans," said Parkes. "Our researchers believe
that people support the idea of having advertisements
on the bases; it was just the particular movie we chose
that they objected to. So we selected something |

that the whole family can enjoy. And by the way, that Julie
Walters is some prime tail -- if you like your meat a little...spicy."
Selig anticipates that the players will support this decision.
"We think the pitchers will be especially pleased,"
said Selig. "Pictures of Helen Mirren's gnarled, saggy
mammaries are sure to horrify runners off the basepaths."
Mirren was busy filming "Calendar Girls II: A Bit
of Crumpet" and was unavailable for comment.
